Insurance when renting out vehicles

When renting vehicles on Hygglo in Sweden, Norway, and Finland, insurance* is included. Vehicles include, for example:

At the moment we are not allowing private cars and motorcycles to be rented and rented out on Hygglo. This is active until further notice.

Vans, and light trucks
Trailers and boat trailers
Caravans and motorhomes
Mopeds
Snowmobiles and ATVs, including lighter tractors

Your vehicle is covered up to 300,000 SEK. The insurance has a deductible of 5,000 SEK for the renter, except for roadside assistance, which has no deductible.

Some of what is included in the insurance:

Compensation for damages to the vehicle up to 300,000 SEK
Roadside assistance for the renter, without deductible
Compensation for the renter and companions to return to the rental location if the vehicle is not drivable
Compensation for you as the renter if you need to go and retrieve the vehicle from another location

Important conditions of the insurance:

The car must have a maximum of 300,000 kilometers driven
Only the renter is allowed to drive the vehicle
The renter needs to verify their eligibility to drive the vehicle

How Hygglo works when you want to rent

Accepted Answer

Search for what you want to rent in the search box on the home page. We recommend entering the location where you want to rent from. The search result will then be sorted by distance to your chosen place. Meaning, the first ads that appear in the search results are the ones closest to you. The further down in the search result you scroll, the further away from your chosen location the rental object is.
You enter the ad by clicking on the image in the search result. Inside the ad itself, you will find a more detailed description of the rental object, information about price, the owner and cancellation policy (we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the policy before placing an order), as well as a calendar (if you are on mobile you click the button that says "See available dates" and in the app the button for "Make a request" to access the calendar. In the calendar, you can select the days you want to rent by first selecting the first day of the rental period, and then selecting the last day. Then the entire period will be automatically selected and you will see what the rental cost for the entire period is.

General insurance

Most of what is rented out on Hygglo is covered by our all-risk insurance which compensates up to 30 000 kr without a deductible. However, there are some categories that have special insurance terms that are worth getting acquainted with:

General insurance

The insurance covers damage up to 30 000 kr without deductible. Anything you rent out with a higher value than this, will need to be covered by your own insurance to be fully insured and our insurance will then cover your deductible. The insurance applies to both individuals and companies and it automatically is included when you use Hygglo - but only if the rent is paid through Hygglo.

What is included in the insurance?

All-risk: Includes things that are not compensated by our compensation of deductible and applies in the event of sudden and unforeseen damage to or loss of rented out objects. The maximum compensation for all-risk is the market value (including accessories) just before the damage occurred, but at most 30 000 kr per claim.
Deductible: Compensation for deductible if damage, loss or theft is covered

This is how the payment works on Hygglo

Accepted Answer

When you have approved a rental request the person who wants to rent will pay to complete the booking. The money goes into its own account and will not be paid out until the rental period is over. After a completed rental period the payout will be initiated. Normally the transfer takes around 2 banking days, but you can see a preliminary payment date in the app.

Hygglo takes a 20% cut on completed orders from the person renting out. The rentee pays a booking fee when paying for the rent

In order to send money to you we will need your bank details. In most cases we need your account number, but something we need the IBAN-number instead. You should be able to find your IBAN-number by logging into your internet bank or by contacting your bank.

Delete account

Accepted Answer

You are not able to delete your account yourself as of today. This is due to technical reasons. However, we are of course happy to assist you and delete your account for you if you wish to do so.

We understand that this is not optimal and it is in our backlog to make it possible to delete your account yourself. We do apologise for the inconvenience.

How am I taxed when renting out?

There are different rules depending on if you are based in Sweden or in Norway. Please see what applies to you below:

You fill in your income from Hygglo in the income tax return. It is taxed as capital income, which in most cases is 30% (regardless of income from salary). It is currently taxed from the first earned Swedish Krona.

You can earn up to NOK 10,000 tax-free a year.

The Norwegian Tax Administration state the following:

Rental of car and other items.

Applies to you who rent out the car or other items, such as tools, trailers or other belongings. When you also use the item and/or your car privately and gross rental income is a maximum of NOK 10,000 a year, you do not pay tax on the rental. If the rental income exceeds NOK 10,000, the income must be reported in the tax return. It is the same whether the rental takes place privately or through an intermediary (application or online service such as Hygglo).
